ALAMEDA COUNTY

21 December  In Livermore, a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker was seen again (it was last seen 13 days ago).  George Bing

18 December  In Oakland, a male Tufted Duck was resting just off the fishing pier at Arrowhead Marsh in Martin Luther King Jr Regional Shoreline. From Doolittle Dr, turn onto Swan Way and then left into the shoreline. Follow the road to the Arrowhead Marsh parking lot at its end. The fishing pier is 20 yards at most from the end of the parking lot.  Bob Power

16 December  In Berkeley, two Hooded Mergansers and a Black-throated Gray Warbler were at Berkeley Aquatic Park. The Mergansers were in the middle pond, while the warbler was in the native pine tree by frisbee basket #3 (the same spot where a Black-throated Gray Warbler was seen on December 7 of last year).  Ken Archibald

11 December  In Oakland, an American Dipper was in Temescal Regional Recreation Area. Enter the park from Broadway Terrace and park. Cross the creek on the wooden pedestrian bridge near the end of the parking lot and look for the bird upstream between the bridge and the culvert.  Dave Quady

2 December  In Berkeley, the Harris's Sparrow came to John Poole's backyard feeder at 4 PMJean Richmond

1 December  In Berkeley, a Harris's Sparrow was at John Poole's residence. The bird cannot be seen from the street.  Emilie Strauss

6 December  In the Berkeley Hills, the juvenile Yellow-bellied Sapsucker continues in Tilden Nature Area near the Little Farm. It was seen between 12:00 and 12:20 PM uphill from the Ranger's Clubhouse, also known as the "home of the Junior Rangers."  Steve Hayashi
