ALAMEDA COUNTY

21 January  In Fremont/Newark, a female Barrow's Goldeneye was at Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge just south of the Dumbarton Bridge, in the third pool as you drive past the nature center along the road parallel to Hwy 84 as it leads to the bridge.  Andy Cutler

20 January  In Hayward at the Hayward Regional Shoreline (end of W Winton Ave) were 6 Black Turnstones, 4 Ruddy Turnstones, 1 Surfbird, 1 Black Oystercatcher, 4 Snowy Plover, 1 Thayer's Gull, 1 White-winged Scoter, a flyover flock of Greater White-fronted Geese, and a male Barrow's Goldeneye. A Short-eared Owl flew in front of the radio towers before dusk. And a White-throated Sparrow has been at a Hayward feeder the past couple of weeks.  Peter Grunow

19 January  In Berkeley, the female Black-throated Gray Warbler continues in Aquatic Park at frisbee golf station #17.  Emilie Strauss

19 January  In Berkeley, the male Hooded Merganser continues at the west edge of the middle pond of Aquatic Park, while a probable Snow Goose flew over with Canada Geese.  Ken Archimbaud

16 January  In Alameda, a possible Pacific Golden-Plover was reported (observer would like verification) at Crown Memorial State Beach at the end of McKay St, on a mudflat around Federal Bldg 3.  Shelby Serky[?]

2 January  In Berkeley, a male Hooded Merganser was at the south end of Aquatic Park, in the second pond from the end.  John Poole
