ALAMEDA COUNTY

21 October  In Oakland, everyone's favorite Cattle Egret has returned to Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland for another winter. It is often in the fence-enclosed area near the Rotary Nature Center.  Bob Ulvang

4 October  In Fremont at Coyote Hills Regional Park, a Philadelphia Vireo was seen in a row of deciduous plantings and an oak tree just to the left of the trail from the main parking lot up to Hoot Hollow.  It soon left that area, however.  Peter Gueno(?)

3 October  On the Newark/Fremont border near the Visitor Center of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, a Palm Warbler was in a flock of warblers including Yellow Warbler, Orange-crowned Warbler, and Yellow-rumped Warbler.  Jim Holmes

1 October  In Castro Valley, a Solitary Sandpiper was at the reservoir spillway at Don Castro Regional Recreation Area on Woodrow Ave, south of Hwy 580 at the Hayward / Castro Valley edge.  Kevin Hintsa
