ALAMEDA COUNTY

22 December  In Oakland, a Ross' Goose was at Arrowhead Marsh in Martin Luther King Jr Regional Park. A Barrow's Goldeneye was in the main channel there.  Tim Wulser (?)

21 & 22 December  In Oakland, the Dusky-capped Flycatcher was seen again both days in the bonsai section of the Lakeside Show Gardens at Lake Merritt. The Cattle Egret was seen both days in the vicinity of Bellevue Ave and the duck ponds.  Tom Condit, Al Eisner

18 December  In Oakland, the Dusky-capped Flycatcher was seen again in the Lakeside Show Gardens at Lake Merritt.  Kevin Hintsa

17 December  In Oakland, a Dusky-capped Flycatcher was seen at Lake Merritt. The bird was first found on December 16 during the Oakland Christmas Bird Count, and it is a first record for Alameda County of this species. From Grand Ave, turn into Lakeside Park on Bellevue Ave near Childrens Fairyland. As you drive around the loop near the lake, the Lakeside Show Gardens are on your left. After you pass the Boating Center on the right (with a parking lot next to it), you will see a fence with green slats along the edge of the gardens on the left. This is the area where the flycatcher was seen. It also briefly flew into the yard with maintenance vehicles.  John Luther   Note that Dusky-capped Flycatcher is a California Bird Records Committee review species. 17 December  In Hayward, 5 Black Oystercatchers were present at high tide at Hayward Landing in Hayward Regional Shoreline.  Jay Withgott

6 December  In Albany, a tan-striped White-throated Sparrow was feeding at the north base of Albany Hill in willows along Cerrito Creek.  Christine Koundakjian
