ALAMEDA COUNTY

29 April  In the Hayward Hills, a White-throated Sparrow was at East Avenue Park on the north edge of the park, which is accessible from East Ave.  Kevin Hintsa

29 April  In Berkeley, a Costa's Hummingbird was in the vicinity of 1620 Berkeley Way (just east of California St), near the North Berkeley BART station.  Emilie Strauss

6 April  In Emeryville, a possible Reddish Egret was seen at the Emeryville Marina, near the fishing pier.  John Mauer  [Editor's note: Only one sighting of Reddish Egret has ever been confirmed north of Southern California, and that was at Elkhorn Slough in Watsonville. Obviously, any sightings of this bird should be carefully documented and reported to the California Bird Records Committee. --Larry]


CONTRA COSTA COUNTY

24 April  At the north end of Bethel Island Rd on Bethel Island were a Black-chinned Hummingbird and a Hooded Oriole.  Florence Bennett

6 April  In the Berkeley Hills, a MacGillivray's Warbler was seen at Jewel Lake in the Tilden Regional Park Nature Area.  Ken Orsonville
