27 May In Hayward, the Arctic Tern and Black Skimmer continued at Hayward Regional Shoreline, at the southwesternmost island of the wastewater ponds near Johnson's Landing. At least 12 Least Terns were here and just offshore. Kevin Hintsa23 May In Hayward, Western Kingbird and Olive-sided Flycatcher were among the five species of flycatchers at the parking lot at the end of West Winton Avenue [in Hayward Regional Shoreline]. Whimbrel and Greater Yellowlegs were present, and a Barn Owl was in the eucalyptus grove here. Phil Gordon
23 May In Hayward, the Arctic Tern and a Black Skimmer were at Hayward Regional Shoreline. From the Interpretive Center, walk the levees out to the Bay, and look on the long, thin island in the pond to the right. Six Least Terns were perched on rocks and logs along the Bay, and at least one Snowy Plover was on the alkali flats near the freeway. 23 May At Mount Diablo, 2 Black Swifts were with White-throated Swifts near Prospector's Gap. Two singing Black-chinned Sparrows were on the slope to the west of Live Oak Campground, and a Prairie Falcon was overhead. Stephen Davies22 May At Mount Diablo, 2 singing male Black-chinned Sparrows were along South Gate Road, 0.3 to 0.5 miles below the south gate kiosk (there is no legal parking here). Another singing Black-chinned Sparrow was between Devil's Elbow and marker 14 on the south side of the Fire Interpretive Trail. A singing Yellow-breasted Chat was along upper Wall Point Road, just west of the area opposite Sentinel Rock. A Hermit Warbler was along Summit Trail, just above Sunset Picnic Area at the Ranger's Residence. Kevin Hintsa
11 May On Bethel Island at Piper Slough, Black-chinned Hummingbirds were near the intersection of Bethel Island Road and Willow Road West. Yellow-breasted Chats and Blue Grosbeaks were along the levee to the west. Jean Richmond
