ALAMEDA COUNTY

22 November  In Berkeley, a Black-and-white Warbler was in a backyard at the corner of Yolo & Milvia. Helen Green

20 November  Along Patterson Pass Rd east of Livermore, Mountain Bluebirds were near the stone corral. Rich Cimino

19 November  In Oakland, an American Dipper was in a bizarre location, along the shores of Lake Temescal in the Montclair District. Jean Puffer

17 November  On Mines Rd southeast of Livermore, a Greater Roadrunner was at milepost 9.15. Jean Richmond

8 November  In Berkeley, 2 pairs of Redheads were in the south pond at Aquatic Park. David Evans

1 November  In Oakland, the Cattle Egret returned to Lake Merritt for another winter. It was on the island by the "Birds Only" sign near the Nature Center. Five Barrow's Goldeneyes and 5 Thayer's Gulls also were at the lake. Graham Etherington


CONTRA COSTA COUNTY

26 November  East of Knightsen, south of the end of Delta Rd, 25 Sandhill Cranes flew off to the southeast. Mike Feighner

16 November  In Oakley, the Franklin's Gull was still along Big Break Regional Trail. Steve Glover

15 November  In Oakley, a first-winter Franklin's Gull was at the Ironhouse Sanitary District. Take Hwy 4 to Oakley (you must leave the freeway before the Antioch Bridge to stay on Hwy 4), turn left on Vintage Pkwy, go over the overpass and turn right on Walnut Meadows Dr, after some distance turn left on Jordan Ln and park. Take the Big Break Regional Trail behind the sewage ponds, and look among roosting gulls in a muddy field. A Swamp Sparrow was just east of the picnic tables. Denise Wight
