ALAMEDA COUNTY

26 March  Southeast of Livermore, 2 Western Kingbirds were at the Eagle View picnic area at Del Valle Regional Park. A pair of Wild Turkeys were along Mines Rd, near milepost 12.27. Jean Richmond

23 March  East of Livermore, Tricolored Blackbirds have returned to the pond at milepost 1.91 along Patterson Pass Rd. Several Rock Wrens were near milepost 6.46. observer unknown

17 March  Northeast of Livermore, a Glaucous Gull was at Frick Lake, along Laughlin Rd not far north of Hwy 580. Steve Glover

9 March  In Fremont, a Least Bittern was seen at Coyote Hills Regional Park, in the first open water to the left just beyond the Quarry parking lot, by the "No Dogs" sign. A Short-eared Owl was seen from the levee to the west. Dan Murphy

9 March  In Albany, a presumed escapee Mute Swan was in the water north of mudflats in the Albany Crescent (just north of the racetrack). [This area is on the border between Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.] Gene Gerlach

4 March  In Oakland, 6 Barrow's Goldeneyes and a female Hooded Merganser were near 8th St in the channel between Lake Merritt and the Oakland Estuary. Lang Stevenson


CONTRA COSTA COUNTY

28 March  Near Martinez, 8 female-plumaged Hooded Mergansers were on Upper Sindicich Lagoon in Briones Regional Park. From Alhambra Valley Rd just west of the intersection with Reliez Valley Rd, take Briones Rd to the parking lot. From there walk up the hill on the Briones Road Trail, go through the gate and continue past the Maricich Lagoons, then turn right up Briones Crest Trail to Lower Sindicich Lagoon, then right on Lagoon Trail to the larger Upper Sindicich Lagoon. 16 March  In eastern Contra Costa County, 19 Cattle Egrets were along Jersey Island Rd, one-eighth mile north of Cypress Rd. Steve Glover
