28 March  In Emeryville at the Berkeley border, a Red Phalarope was along the north shore of Point Emery, near the foot of Ashby Ave. Florence Bennett

26 March  In Emeryville, 3 Red Phalaropes were along the frontage road between Powell St and Ashby Ave. Emilie Strauss

19 March  In Oakland, a Pileated Woodpecker flew up Shepherd Canyon. John Luther

17 March  In Oakland, the male Tufted Duck was still on Lake Merritt near the Rotary Nature Center. Travis Hales

13 March  In Fremont, a pair of Blue-winged Teal were in the flooded field just south of the entrance kiosk at Coyote Hills Regional Park. Joe Morlan

4 March  In Oakland, the male Tufted Duck was still at Lake Merritt near the Rotary Nature Center, but the Cattle Egret apparently has left. Larry Tunstall

25 & 27 March  In Walnut Creek, the female Red-naped Sapsucker was still at the previously described location. George Finger, John Osner

22 March  In Walnut Creek, the female Red-naped Sapsucker was still at the previously described location. Kevin Hintsa

21 March  In northeast Contra Costa County, the Franklin's Gull could not be relocated, but a male Blue-winged Teal, a Lesser Yellowlegs, and a Short-eared Owl were at the end of Jersey Island Rd. Along the road to the Bradford Island Ferry (the first right turn from Jersey Island Rd past the large bridge) were 30 Cattle Egrets and another Blue-winged Teal. Near Byron, a Snowy Plover was on the levee at the end of the road at Clifton Court Forebay. Steve Glover

21 March  In Walnut Creek, a female Red-naped Sapsucker was in the Ignacio Valley area. Park at the corner of Bayberry Dr & Perata Dr. Go right into the trail at the end of Bayberry - the bird was feeding in an almond tree next to the trail behind the second house. Janet Goodman

19 March  In northeast Contra Costa County, a first-spring Franklin's Gull was with 30 California Gulls in the field south of the intersection of Cypress Rd & Jersey Island Rd (about 2 miles east of Oakley). Roger Muscat(?)

4 March  In Richmond, a Sage Thrasher was in Wildcat Regional Park at the highest point of the East Bay Skyline National Trail [San Pablo Ridge Trail]. Bob Brandriff

4 March  In Richmond, a male Eurasian Wigeon, a Short-eared Owl, 2 Black Oystercatchers, and a Clapper Rail were between Richmond Inner Harbor (Marina Bay Pkwy) and Point Isabel. Dan Singer
